The Plastic Surgeon, A Woman’s Best Friend?

I sometimes look back and laugh at the behavior of women when it comes to their vanity.  Growing up in an area filled with ‘trophy wives’ you see botox-before-and-aftercosmetic counters at the local Nordstrom, Saks and Neiman Marcus busy, not to mention the need for having large number of plastic surgeons at their disposal.  In this area (which shall be nameless at this point), some girls receive their first breast augmentation as a graduation gift from High School.  Oh yes, they start at a very young age. Those A and B cups will be gone forever, almost.  At some point they will have them redone.

There are pros and cons about plastic surgery and alternatives.  Let’s say you’re a female mid-20’s and cannot seem to shed those five horrible pounds so you can fit in your size 0 or 2 jeans.  The daily work-out with the personal trainer or 500 calorie per day diet is doing absolutely nothing, so you visit your board certified plastic surgeon and check-out your options for liposuction or other method to sculpt and shape your body.

And the latest hype about Botox injections is attracting  women in their 20s at the first sign of aging. Whether you chose this route or not, a board certified plastic surgeon should be the only person you allow to administer.  As for the cost, some surgeons charge by the area while others will charge by the amount of Botox used. According to one surgeon, a Botox injection will lighten your wallet by $200- $300 for one area.  By the time you leave, it could easily cost you $800 or more and you will need these treatments every five months.  So is a plastic surgeon a woman’s best friend or are women a plastic surgeon’s best friend?

You only discuss women and Botox injections, but men have them too. Would be nice to see health related articles focusing on men.
